Jamhuri Day Clebrations Presided by President Uhuru Kenyatta in the newly refurbished 30,000 Seater Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi

The 55th Jamhuri Day celebrations was held at the newly refurbished 30,000 seater Nyayo Stadium, on the December 12th.The public holiday marked two events. It celebrated Kenya becoming a republic on December 12, 1964, and also marked Kenya's independence from the United Kingdom a year earlier on December 12, 1963.

The day was celebrated with many events such as feasts, political speeches and parades, all of which celebrated the country's cultural heritage.The the celebrations marked with special display from the 17 battalion which was be the highlight of the day.

This year’s Jamhuri Day was special as the 17 battalion, the Kenya Rifles, a unit in the Kenya Army was presented with regimental colour.
